Bright, tangy, and perfectly sweet, this classic lemonade comes together in minutes. It is the ultimate easy summer drink for picnics, barbecues, and lazy afternoons.

Ingredients

Scale

1 ½ cups granulated sugar

1 ½ cups water (for simple syrup)

1 ½ cups fresh lemon juice (about 68 lemons)

45 cups cold filtered water

Ice cubes

Lemon slices and fresh mint for garnish

Instructions

1. Combine sugar and 1 ½ cups water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring until sugar fully dissolves. Remove from heat and let cool completely.

2. Juice the lemons and strain out seeds and pulp.

3. In a large pitcher, stir together the cooled simple syrup and lemon juice.

4. Add 4 to 5 cups cold water and taste. Adjust with more syrup or lemon juice if needed.

5. Chill until ready to serve. Add ice, lemon slices, and mint right before pouring.

Notes

Store in the refrigerator up to 5 days. Stir before serving.

For a lighter version, use sparkling water instead of still water.

Double the recipe for parties and keep extra simple syrup on the side.
